Old monastry

Near Feltre you find old monastry fonded by strong crusaider Giovanni da Vidor. On the spur of Mount Miesna which tends to join the opposite side of Mount Tomatico, as if to close the beautiful Feltre valley, rises the architectural complex of the Sanctuary and Convent of the Saints Martyrs Vittore and Corona, protectors of the ancient City and Diocese of Feltre.

The Sanctuary was built “homogeneous and cast dating from 1096 to 1101” and was an integral part of the defensive curtain of the Feltrino territory towards the Treviso plain. The defensive curtain that from the castle of Rocchetta (q. 439), to the castle of S. Vittore (now Convento) and down the valley to the castle of Chiusa (q. 257), went up again with some fortifications to the opposite side of Mount Tomatico. At the armed defense towards the year one thousand the spiritual defense of the Holy Martyr soldier Vittore was joined. From the hill it dominates, with a 360 degree view, all the Feltrino: from the Piave, to the Grappa, to the ancient walled city of Feltre, to the plain moved by hills and villas to the cloister of the Vette Feltrine, magnificent predolomitic seabed.
