The Armeano - Catholic Church of Dumbraveni is in the main square of this city and is a historical monument. It was built from the money given by the Armenians settled at the end of the 17th century in this locality.
The foundation stone of the church was laid on July 22, 1766. Its construction lasted almost 17 years until July 19, 1783. The interior of the church along with numerous altars was completed only in 1791. when on June 29 the church was sanctified primid the patron saint of St. Elizabeth.
The church is built in pure Baroque style of granite and brick. The works were led by Chindea Francisc and Ibeslach Anton builders. Above the impressive entrance to the church is the following inscription: God and his protector Elisabeth built the Armenian gentile.
Following the earthquake of 1916, many internal damage and cracks in masonry were brought about. The repairs were completed only in 1924. In 1927 a strong storm led to the fall of the right tower and took most of the church roof.
The altars, seven in number, are painted in Italian neoclassical style. The main altar is dedicated to St. Elizabeth.
The lateral altars, starting from the main altar to the right, are dedicated to the Virgin Mary, St. Rosary, Saint Stephen-the First Martyr, the Holy Fathers Joachim and Ana, the Holy Cross and the Mummy, St. Gregory the Enlightener of Armenia, and the last, St. Joseph.
