Is this festival similar to the one in Germany? When do they start doing it? I am really curious about it as I thought it was celebrated only in Germany and few other countries in Europe.

Oktoberfest runs from mid-September through October, with biergartens, chicken dances etc. Iā€™m sure Germany has more lavish Oktoberfest festivals. Besides Old World Village in Huntington Beach, Alpine Village also has an Oktoberfest. In addition, local bars and what not have Oktoberfest specials going on.
