How do you know when something is closed? How can you tell if you are late? Well, that’s what I like to share on Google Maps.
Whenever I plan to visit a new place, I usually search for it on Google Maps to make sure it is open. Because what’s the point of going somewhere if you are not sure you’ll get there on time?
Because of my work, I need to go to a lot of different government departments around my city, I know most of their business hours by now, but every day I encounter people who don’t know them. I always try to help them and through Google Maps I can make sure more people know these things so they can plan their days more efficiently and not get turned down because they got there late (which happens a lot in government departments, I see it almost every day).
And this is not just related to my work, I also do it to help others when visiting other types of places, that’s why I leave reviews telling people what to expect, how much it can cost, etc. because that’s the kind of information I would like to have before I make a decision on where to go. And knowing where is just the first step, how to get there the second, and when to get there is the third.
Like a pharmacy, for example:
Or a property appraisal office:
Or a toy store (for those holiday frantic last-minute shopping):
That is what I like to share, among many other things. It’s one of my favorite aspects of Google Maps; being able to know when a place is open gives me peace of mind and makes it easier to plan my day (both work days and weekends).
I enjoy contributing to the Google Maps community because this is a team effort, the information I need someone has it, the information I have someone needs it, so why not share it?
In the end, Google Maps is about getting the information out there to people everywhere because knowledge is power and having it means being able to make better decisions on where to go, how to get there and as equally important, when to get there.
