How has Local Guides Program Impacted my Life?
Google Local Guides program is a means to show love, appreciation and support for everyone around me. There are innumerable thoughtful people or the Local guides who are kind enough to share their experiences for the benefit of everyone. So when people like me, who visit a place for the first time can rely on such reviews for a truly enriching experience. My gratitude for this support is immeasurable. Not only does it helps with my anxiety but also gives me a heads-up on what to expect. Thanks to a fellow local guide, I was extra careful to carry spare clothing to a tourist place. Because of another one, I visited this really cute cafe that served the best pasta and waffles in town.
I always try to pay forward this love by doing my share on Google maps. I always remember to review, rate, add a capture, suggest edits etc., so that nobody faces an issue I faced and everyone is able to use my experience to make their experience more insightful. When someone tells me how I was able to make things good for them, my day becomes better.
Google Local guides program has helped me to know more people and strengthen my bonds with existing one. There exists a different type of bond when people like the same food as you do or love doing the same activities as you.
I was born and brought up in the erstwhile Royal city of Patiala. After having spent my lifetime in this city, I’m greatly familiar with the place. As a Local guide, I try to add my insights about the city so that the people who will visit the city can explore it for it’s rich cultural heritage. Whenever I go to any city/country, it is the fellow Local Guider’s whose efforts help me tremendously. Here’s a capture from my visit to Singapore:
I also try to support local businesses by either listing a place(though most places I went to, were already there) or giving decent reviews and ratings to the place. Such places represent the community as a whole and provide better services than what they are given credit for. The Local guides program is an excellent means for them to get recognised, get customers and mark their presence in the arena.
Google Local Guides has impacted my life in more ways than I can ever credit it for. The support and heads-up about a place is unparalleled. From randomly rating a place when I got a notication to doing everything I can to truly cover a place in Google Maps, I believe I have come a long way. Here’s to more Love, greater Support and all the more Appreciation!
