Vanakkam Team Google! (Greetings)
This is Vignesh Krishna from Chennai, India. I am a Doctor and I have completed my Masters Degree in Radiology last year. I am passionate about Travelling, Adventure, Driving and Photography. I am currently a Level 7 Local Guide.
Google has intertwined with my life right from getting out of bed till I get back to it. Starting with Google Chrome, Google Drive, Google Photos, Gmail, Google Assistant, Play Store, You Tube, Snapseed, My Business, Google Home and finally my hero… Google Maps!
My baby steps towards becoming a Local Guide started with a picture of a hotel in Mumbai and a shopping mall in Chennai, each reaching upward of 25,000 views. Since then I have never stopped sharing my day to day trips, activities and photos with Google. Looking at my recent pictures reaching a larger audience than ever before, excites me!
Being a practicing doctor, I don’t get much free time. But when I do get some time off, I explore the places around the city with my friends and I click pictures while enjoying the place and atmosphere. After coming home, I spend some time to post reviews and pictures of the places I have been to. So it has actually become a hobby that I cherish to do. I love to upload pictures and review of restaurants, hotels and scenic places. I do it because the photos and reviews on Google Maps are unbiased and honest opinions from fellow Google users like me. They help me easily choose a nice restaurant / hotel / park / any shopping mall, etc. Recently I have also started reporting congestions and collisions on Google Maps with their new feature. I would like to contribute and help the community in the same way they help me. And I love being a part of Google! ?
I would like to share few of my experience with Google Maps. When I was solo trekking to Jog Falls in Himalayas, I got lost in between and I couldn’t find any human help at that moment. The signal was also very weak on the hills. I managed to find my way back with the help of Google Maps thanks to the GPS compass and Offline map that I had downloaded.
Google Maps has not only helped me out of adventures but also when I am stuck with a bunch of hungry friends at odd times of the day. I open Google Maps and look out for ‘Desserts around me’ and use the 'Open now’ filter. Voila! Google gives me a long list of places to select from.
I saw about #LocalGuidesConnect 2019 through an email sent to me from Google. I was super excited to know that Google recognizes our efforts that we put into making Google Maps better. It is an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime, opportunity to meet people from all over the world who share similar views and interests.
I am enthralled and I can’t wait to see how the surreal the Google Local Guide Connect Live 2019 summit feels!
See you soon Local Guides and Team Google. Ciao!
