Calexico is the combination of California and Mexico because it’s a city located at the border of California and Mexico. The ambiance is cozy & relaxed and the service was friendly.

隨意搜尋到這家評價不錯的墨西哥菜。
Calexico 起名是一座位於加州、墨西哥邊境的城市,
有趣的是位於墨西哥有一相對的姐妹市Mexicali。
初聞覺得這實在太幽默了,
就把兩座城市加在我的口袋名單上,
只是一直還沒有機會成行。
First of all, we tried Esquites and Crispy Brussels Sprouts as starters. The Esquites was delicious and creamy. I love brussels sprouts dishes but I don’t recommend to order because the balance of Brussels sprouts and balsamic vinegar was off.

墨西哥烤玉米Elote的進階版,
兩者的差別在Elote是整隻玉米、Esquites是玉米粒。
以份量十足的碗公上桌,
滿足度很高,
墨西哥酸奶醬(Mexican sour cream)稍嫌多,
即使有萊姆汁中和還是偏膩。
Crispy Brussels Sprouts ($9)
孢子甘藍是我最喜歡的蔬菜,
只要菜單上有我八成都會加點,
但畢竟不是墨西哥菜的強項,
失望在預料之中。
For entrees, we had 2 tacos - Grilled Shrimp Taco & Chipotle Pork Taco and Carne Asada wet Burrito with both red & green sauce.
The tortilla they used for each flavor is different and we preferred the chipotle pork with corn tortilla. The grilled shrimp was cooked chewy but salty. The spice with pulled pork was greatly matched with all the ingredients.
The portion of wet burrito is super huge and the beef was kind of dry but well flavored.

Tortilla墨西哥薄餅主要有兩種,
使用小麥製成的麵粉薄餅(flour tortilla),
與玉米製成玉米餅(corn tortilla)。
口感不同、適合的食材也需要變化,
兩種塔可餅使用不同的Tortilla,
Grilled Shrimp使用flour 、Chipotle Pork則是corn。
烤蝦很乾、偏硬,
相差前些日子吃的Burrito Blvd很遠,
不推薦選擇。
豬肉意外地很濕潤、調味很棒、
配上微焦、酥脆的Corn Tortilla。

第一次嘗試濕式墨西哥捲餅,
相對一般怕潮的Burrito 比較耐放,
畢竟已經浸泡在醬料中。
牛肉偏乾、調味微鹹,
但與其他豆子、碎番茄很搭,
醬料可以選擇紅醬、綠醬或混搭,
我們選擇了酸酸辣辣的混搭很開胃。
