NEW UPDATE:
Today, I encountered with a new feature on google maps which is very beneficial for people in search for food shelters(food bank) and night shelters(homeless shelters) amid current health crisis…
A screenshot showing search option for food and night shelters.
There are some changes in the home page. Now you don’t see restaurants just after home as due to current global health crisis it is discouraged or closed(depending on the govt.)
Many people specially daily wage labourers are suffering more than us… they don’t have jobs, money, food and shelter and only way for their survival is food and night shelters provided by government and NGOs.
How to add such places in currentlockdown situation…
Many countries have lockdown everything and even imposed fines etc( if anyone breaks) it so I totally discouraged going out and mapping…
But we can help people from our homes itself. If you know about such shelters nearby(nearby means nearby only) then do add it on maps. It will help people in need.
Stay Home Stay Safe and help the needy from your home. Even mapping such places on maps can help people who are suffering.
It was very well expected initiative by Google Maps. But still those needful peoples need someone to read the map for them, as you can understand what I want to say.
Yes @Sandeepnirvan I can understand what you mean… We can try our best to help others. Many people from such sections have access to such basic things as well…
I have real strong feelings for hungry kids, families and even single adults to reach out and let people know that hunger is a real issue in this part of our country. I hope somehow I can contribute that problem so I am writing in regards to form some kind of help for these fellow loved ones.
You can now easily add food banks on Google Maps and even creating lists. I believe you might find this article You Can Help the Homeless with Google Maps interesting which is also a great example of helpful lists for people experiencing homelessness.
P.S.: To share a bit about yourself and get to know other fellows in Connect you can visit our monthly Introduce Yourself - November 2020 section.
This is totally awesome!! Bless you for finding these places and let people know there is someone(s) looking out for them and trying to protect them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
