You can add a place name in any desired language.
Now the Maps app makes that easy.
If you wish to add a German name, please change the language of app to German. You can do that through - Click the profile icon → Settings → App language & then the entire content will become visible in the chosen language.
Then, on selecting “edit”, the app will show an empty field suggesting you add a name in the German language if that is absent. Add that correctly & submit the edit.
PS Edit. Google Maps now allows seventy-nine languages. As a matter of fact, at any given POI, there are distinct fields for entry of the place name in any of these languages.
However, the app shows places in two languages only. First, the one which we chose in the app and second the language of that specific region.
La procedura indicata da @C_T per l’inserimento della seconda lingua è corretta, @ziopino , perciò credo che l’inghippo stia nella impostazione della lingua di chi ha creato il luogo in Google Maps.
Mi spiego: Se chi ha inserito il luogo con nome Tedesco lo ha fatto con Google Maps impostata in Italiano, Maps acquisirà quel nome come “Italiano”, e viceversa. Questo è purtroppo un problema comune nelle aree bilingui. Il nome dovrebbe essere sempre inserito nella stessa lingua in cui è impostato Google Maps.
Cosa significa: che questo luogo è stato creato in lingua Italiana. Stessa cosa per il secondo. Adesso che lo sai dovresti sistemarli tutti. In pratica, se in Italiano non ti propone la seconda lingua, vuol dire che il nome è (paradossalmente) in Italiano
Per quanto riguarda l’ultimo luogo, probabilmente non esiste una categoria in Germania per Apicoltura, e questo potrebbe bloccare anche la traduzione. Chiedo una verifica a @JanVanHaver per una verifica della categoria
Thanks for the tag @ErmesT in this interesting topic raised by @ziopino . This seems to be one of those cases where a category that was available in the past is still in use on a POI on Maps. I guess the original entry was made in Italian, because changing the interface to anything but English keeps displaying the Italian term ‘apiculturo’ - whereas in English ‘Beekeeping’ is shown. When you want to add a category to another place, however, this category is no longer available.
Currently there is no really fitting category for this, I think. There is ‘Honey farm’ but that is meant for commercial harvesting of honey, which is not the case here. Also when searching along the lines of education/agriculture I don’t find anything that wouild suit better here. My advice: leave the category as it is, as most of the people needing this information at that specific location will be speaking/understanding Italian, so changing the category to something very general would most likely lead to less maps users understanding it correctly.
I guess if this is the reason why, as the category of the place is no longer available, at least in German, also translating the name in German is not possible
Sono contentodi vedere che hai già ricevuto molte utili risposte dai nostri membri. Io volevo solo farti sapere che ho aggiunto il tag della lingua così il tuo post sarà più facile da trovare per chi cercasse contenuti in italiano.
È un piacere, @ziopino , ora non ti resta che provare. Può sembrare paradossale, ma Maps non è in grado di verificare la lingua dei nomi, perché nella maggior parte dei casi sono nomi commerciali (ad esempio CONAD), non parole di senso compiuto in una lingua o in un’altra. Perciò Maps prende come “lingua” quella con cui è impostato Maps all’atto della creazione del luogo. Se tu inserisci il nome Tedesco, ma la tua App è impostata in Italiano, quello diventerà il nome Italiano. Per cambiare la lingua nella App, vai nel menu “impostazioni” e seleziona “lingua della App”.
