The number of Captions didn’t disappear for me. But now I’m also able to see again the field to add Caption for updates. However, I cleared the app data yesterday so, I’m not sure if it is solved from the server side or my side.
It is good if you check the status by clearing the app data.
And “Reported incorrect” is a separate thing. I don’t see it yet as I described here.
Thanks @Rednewt74 for making me check. YES my captions are back, as of this morning, I tested it and got the extra 10 points. (I’m a happy camper right now).
No I do not have the " Incorrect reports buton" yet
Thanks for the clear data suggestion, which I did.
The problem has been operator error. It’s been so long since the feature disappeared, that I forgot you only get the option through the update or explore tab.
Silly me. I wonder how long it has been back and I just didn’t know it.
Same problem here and something on the Google end changed. I’m using the same process as I was two days ago.
Find a business (preferably one that I have already reviewed).
Click “Post”
Click “Add photos”
This would be where I would type my caption. There is no field for that now.
Android fully updated to version 15 (April 5 2025).
Maps is version 25.16.06.747108139 and there are no pending updates.
I have shutdown, restarted and tried “Force stop.” I also did clear both storage and cache. I’ve tried other businesses, too. I went back to businesses where I was able to add photos with captions. They’re still not showing a caption field.
That is basically the process I’m using. I opened the business, select updates and there is a button for adding a photo update. But now after adding the photo the option to caption it is not there.
@Rednewt74@WilfriedB@TerryPG I only noticed it today after reading a post about it. I don’t use it very often, and for a little while I suspected that the instances where I added a Caption were the ones where the photo didn’t post. Evidence on that is still inconclusive.
@tony_b I tried to find a pattern for this, I add a caption to all updates and the only thing that made me check later on or the next day was when I added a video because those ones seems to have the pending message more often. but even then, they would often just appear normally after a few hours. That just seems normal for videos to take longer.
I did see an example today, I was adding an update and noticed that my previous update’s images were pending… that must be at least from 8 or 10 months ago. It was 4 images with a caption. If I click edit, the photos are still there for me in that view and I can re submit. I cannot see or change the caption in the edit page even though if i re submit, the caption is still there.
I’ve seen it with other people’s pending updates, you do see their caption, but not their image.
Clicking Edit and then re submit can resolve the issue from my experience… so It feels more like a tech issue than a content issue.
