Kumbhalgarh fort is the second largest hill fort after Chittorgarh fort and a symbol of pride of Mewar. It was built by Rana Kumbha under the supervision of architect Mandan from 1443 to 1458 AD. Security system are very special and present monuments of this fort are a symbol of its pride.

Water is an important need of our life, and the ruler of Mewar were very much aware of conservation, Lake Lakhola in Kumbhalgarh is the proof of this awareness which was built before Rana Kumbha, by Rana Lakha in the fourteenth century. All the rulers were also kind with valor and this quality seems to be due to the infinite faith in God. In the fort premise where sight and sound show is organized, the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is located in which the regular worships are still performed and the priests were present. This temple is also an attraction.

The major features of this temple are that the rectangular Sanctum, which has four doors in all the four directions and there is also a circumambulatary, sanctum is surrounded by twelve pillars. This temple can be accessed from all four sides.

The geographical structure of this temple is rectangular and is built on high platforms and it’s West facing. The roof rests almost on twenty six huge stone pillars. The roof has domes of various sizes and the sanctum sanctorum which is situated on the east has a large dome on it decorated with urn at the centre of the lotus. Nandi is facing to the Shiva Linga which is built by monolithic black stone on a Pedestal. This Nagara style temple was built by Rana Kumbha in 1458 AD and later it was renovated by Maharana Sangram Singh, it’s a kind of Sarvatobhadra. Archaeological Survey of India is looking after this temple and they have provided the brief historical information for the sake of tourists. Visitors must remove their footwears while entering.

It’s a major attraction among the devotees, tourists, art and architecture lovers.
