Night time in Kolkata

The night sky of Kolkata where I live seems to me unusually inky black. Numerous heritage buildings and spots that dot the city takes on dream like quality against this back drop. But my iPhone with which I take all my photographs has limited night capabilities.

However, recently I clicked some and was surprised to see the result:

Excellent efforts @Gautamda
Did you use any specific camera app or the built-in on the iPhone?

@C_T thank you very much for your kind words. I used the built in iPhone camera. The first photograph was from my slow moving car. I was surprised to see that no blurring had taken place.

I guess I was just lucky!

Regards.

@KatyaL

I have read your post and it is excellent. Next month I will be travelling to north India and I hope to test my knowledge.

By the way I have a basic Fuji Fine Pix 3D camera. Can I use it for night photography in 3D mode or 2D mode for better result ?

I am little confused about this camera as I have lost it’s manual. Please advise.

Regards.

Hello @Gautamda

Getting any manual is not so difficult nowadays.

You can get the required manual on net.

Hi @Gautamda ,

Thanks for reading my post about night photography tips! I’m glad that you will challenge yourself to take photos at night.

Your camera is quite new model, as far as I know, but it seems that the camera settings are not that good for night photography. Did you try to find a manual online? The information that I found is that the shutter speed could be set to 3 seconds in the Night (Tripod) mode and according to me that could not get you the best result when taking photos at night. So, probably you can take a friend’s camera and try with both to check out which camera is taking better shots.

Good luck and don’t forget to share with us the results! :slight_smile:
