Night of the dawn in Elche, Alicante, Spain.

Every night of August 13 in Elche there is a party called “Nit d’albà” in the local language. It is a celebration that is done as a tribute to the virgin of the assumption, patron saint of the city of Elche. That night all the people go up to their terrace to throw fireworks. There are so many fireworks that it seems to be dawning, that’s why its name. At 23:59 they launch a fireworks palm tree that they call “Imperial Palm Tree” from the basilica Santa María. These fireworks palm tree is considered one of the largest in the world. After its release, all the bells of the basilica begin to sound.
