I dive a lot in the Red Sea and I enjoy many Night dives (or maybe you can call it Evening dives ).
I love this experience!
Night dives open a whole new world with totally different animals and behaviors.
As a Local guide I am happy to share some different and creative photos of a place with my night photos and also shining a new light on dive sites and showing other people how the place looks at night or what they can expect to meet underwater an night
Some times I take with me an underwater protected UV dive light (Flashlight)
Many corals and some fish glow under UV light and it is magnificent (!!) although very hard to capture with the camera
I added a few photos here.
@JoniG seems like the night dives are the perfect opportunities for exploring the deep sea! Personally I would be far too scared to do it, but it delights Guides like myself when we have other amazing Guides who do it and share! I think the fluorescence of the sea life really help bring their after-dark worlds to life. I think being able to control and protect yourself and the wildlife/habitats and still being able to get great photos like these is very impressive.
@JoniG I love the underwater world. So gorgeous! I can only dream and drool over your night dive photos as I can’t dive myself although I’ve done the introductory course twice (LOL).
@JoniG That sounds fantastic. I notice that you’ve got Eilat, Israel as the location of your dive site. 10m doesn’t sound that deep for a dive, but for snorkelling, I think I would only be able to see a few metres down at most. But I would LOVE to snorkel there if I ever get a chance to go to Israel. Israel is on my bucket list. My husband can dive and has his certification.
How lovely to be able to snorkel for “me time”. You’re sooo lucky!
I have snorkelled on Mantaray Island, Fiji before and the coral is right off the beach and quite shallow especially at low tide. It was fantastic! I was snorkelling so far by myself one day until I came to “the drop” and saw a log that looked like a shark and thought it was a log until the “log” moved! Gave me such a fright. I high-tailed it out of there immediately. But I learnt later that it was a harmless reef shark. It was probably more frightened of me than I was of it.
You are invited to Israel and I will be happy to show you guys around when you get here.
In Eilat there are many shallow reefs just like in Fiji and also the water is super clear in the Red sea so you can sometimes even see the bottom at 30-40 meters
@JoniG That sounds fantastic. Would love to connect and go snorkelling and diving when we get to Israel.
Wow! If you can see the coral up to 30 to 40 metres, the water would have to be super super clear! Sounds really awesome. Even better than the Great Barrier Reef. Or at least where the general tourists can get to that is. I’m sure there are many really beautiful sites on the GBR that general tourists can’t get to.
