Nigeria is a multicultural state, is inhabited by more than 250 ethnic groups with over 525 distinct languages all identifying with a wide variety of cultures.
The three largest ethnic groups are the
Hausa–Fulani in the north,
Yoruba in the west, and
Igbo in the east;
These 3 groups comprising over 60% of the total population of Nigeria.
The official language of Nigeria is English, chosen to facilitate linguistic unity at the national level.
This is because Nigeria was colonized by British from 1901 to 1960 when Nigeria became independent state.
Geography:
Nigeria is a country in west Africa. it has the highest population in the whole of Africa with more than 211 million people.
Nigeria share border with Niger Republic to the North, Chad in the Northeast, Cameroon in the East, Benin Republic in the west.
Geographically Nigeria is situated between the Sahel to the north and Gulf of Guinea to the south in the Atlantic ocean. covering an area of 923,769 square kilometers (356,669 square miles).
It is a federal republic with 36 states and the federal capital territory. where the capital is located at Abuja.

Tourism
Tourism in Nigeria centers largely on events, due to the country’s ample amount of ethnic groups, but also includes rain forests, Savannah, waterfalls, and other natural attractions.
Nigerian’s Tourism sector is grossly under developed even though there are lots of natural wonders and many cultural events all this spanning across the country.

Some famous Tourism attractions are
Durba festival in the northern part of the country during the muslims Eid celebrations. Also Argungu Fishing festival, Yankari game reserve where you will see Elephants, giraffe, Antelope, Hyenas, Leopards, Lions and many games in their natural habitat.
At the South Western part you will experience events like Sango Oshogbo festival (this is said to be the origin of Voodoo religion that you will find in Brazil, Haiti and some other Latin countries). Also the longest coastal line can be found in the Southwest. this translate to more beaches.
The South East is home to annual New Yam festival, Calabar Carnival, and many more. Also the longest mountain range is Ogbudu mountain range. Enugu coal mines and other places of attractions.
Cuisine,
like West African cuisine in general, is known for its richness and variety. Many different spices, herbs, and flavorings are used in conjunction with palm oil or groundnut oil to create deeply flavored sauces and soups often made very hot with chili peppers.
Nigerian feasts are colorful and lavish, while aromatic market and roadside snacks cooked on barbecues or fried in oil are plentiful and varied.
