Could there be an issue when you post an advertising sign with a name of a brand? I heard that it’s sometimes an issue due to rights.

Signs in public areas should not be a copyright problem.
I photograph tons of stores with signs showing the store name all the time and post them on Google Maps.
In my experience the AI filter checking our uploaded photos do not like photos showing only a sign. We should always try to include some of the surroundings also in our pictures to make it easier for Maps users to understand and get help from our photos.
One exception is a close up of signs with the opening hours. They can be machine read by Googles computers.

PS if you intend to advertise by posting photos of special offers this is not acceptable. We can not mix the interests of businesses with being a Local Guide.
