"Neysatu": discovering underground music

Badiaa Bouhrizi, also known by her stage name Neysatu, is an underground Tunisian singer-songwriter and composer. Her music is known for mixing classical Arabic music, jazz, funk, neo-soul, electronica, and reggae.

She started singing at the age of seven as a soloist in a choir, and has collaborated with musicians from different countries and styles, such as Aytma, a newly founded musical band.

Here’s a short extract from her 2017’s concert at Ezzahra Summer Festival, accompanied on stage by Aytma.

What’s your favorite local band?

Thank you for sharing your post with us @Asma-Tn . What great music! I like the mix of different music genres. Have you ever been to Ezzahra Summer Festival? If yes, how was it?

One of my favorite bands takes old songs from '50-'60s and remake them. It’s like they are giving new life to the song. Here is one of them, enjoy:

Hey @VasT , so sorry for the delayed reply!

I have gone to the festival since I was a child. My father used to organize concerts during the music festival in July/August. I shot this video two years ago to immortalize the moment. It was a great musical discovery! I love people who stand out from the crowd!

Thanks for sharing this music with us. What a beautiful discovery! I love discovering new music based on people’s taste.

That sounds so cool @Asma-Tn , you’ve been very lucky.

Thank you for your reply. Our taste in music is a part of our identity and culture I believe. Is this genre more popular now?

@VasT She’s not very well known, or not well enough.
