news for foody photographers

Hi all

This news I read on 9to5google.com would be interesting for photographers of food and dishes, for people like @Shri_khaushik @MrFreez who review restaurants etc. who add many pictures to their contributions about these places: 9to5google.com wrote that google maps starts to match your pictures with the menus of the restaurants:

https://9to5google.com/2024/01/20/google-maps-food-pics-menu/

I also refer to an interesting article about how to add pictures of food:

https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/HOW-TO-WIN-13-points-and-many-views-very-quickly-in-Google-Maps/td-p/3696369

and also to the post of @user_not_found https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/Why-you-should-tag-your-Foodie-Photos-and-How-To/td-p/3535172

I think this is a result of both the pictures local guides are adding and also of what #googlecrowdsource is delivering to the object recognition models: the food related tasks at #googlecrowdsource will improve Google Map’s food related functionalities.

Good Post and good points @KattyGeltmeyer I have been aware that Google has been doing this for a while and that’s why I advocate tagging your Foodie photos to help Google.

I actually wrote a post here on why you should tag your photos

Hi @TerryPG : tagging food pictures is indeed very important for feeding the food recognition models.

@KattyGeltmeyer thanks for the tip.
I frequently add food photos and never tried to work it via the “menu” option and add dish.
I suspect it would work well when the menu is quite steady (like McDonalds) and slightly more tricky for chef restaurant when menu changes frequently.
