New Zealand Parliament Buildings

The New Zealand Parliament Buildings has two main buildings. The oldest is an Edwardian neoclassical building which opened in 1865 after Parliament moved from Auckland to Wellington.

The second main building is the Executive Wing where the current Governing Government are housed. This building, known as the Beehive because of how it looks, was built in stages between 1969 - 1979.

It is free to walk around the Parliament grounds and there are guided paid tours of parts of the building, which includes going underneath and viewing the cushioning pads that protect it during earthquakes.

Hi @TheEagleEye ,

The buildings of New Zealand Parliament really look like a Beehive. Thanks a lot for sharing a description to your photo. It was great to learn about the history of these buildings. Taking a tour to see the building underneath to view the cushioning pads sounds also a good suggestion.
