Hey there fellow New Yorkers (not just in the city, but in the massive Upstate as well)
I just started contributing a few weeks ago while travelling abroad, and now have been using this as the perfect opportunity to practice my photography and find a good outlet to share. Plus, I love for my name to be trusted in my area and show up on the top of the list when people are researching a nice restaurant to enjoy their dinner at.
What has gotten you guys into the contributing? How far will you travel for a “Meet-Up”?
Hi @GeoffryG . I moved your post to Let’s Meet-Up as I think that will help you to find other Local Guides in your area. I am indeed in NY though I live in NYC and depending on the actual meet-up, I have traveled as far as Toronto.
Thanks very much! And yeah I have been noticing that I may have to travel for a decent meet-up. What is the frequency of them being in the city? I find myself down there multiple times a month regardless, but I was thinking about going down with my camera to take many photos and update Google where I can =]
I am still getting use to this,I had no idea that this existed till I noticed my address and my surroundings were off ,as I fixed it I was asked to do it &so on &so on and I was happy to.But I just found out this forum existed a week ago. But,I want to hit the high end reviews and I’m in Brooklyn so I’d jump on Amtrak for a day trip and I have to know exactly what that means. I’m going to introduce myself but need to do my profile page I think.I will figure it out. But I am traveling home to Harper’s ferry wva in March and want to do a whole piece on the valley where the 1st black college was and the courthouse is still there where they do reenactments and the little cottage’s and of course the Potomac river. too much information ,sorry. yes,I am willing to travel upstate but do we all do this as a group or we meet up?maybe if I read everything I’d be prepared. But I am on board.
Ernest ,you are on to something ,is that why I am not getting any responses ?I have asked a few questions and I don’t particularly like forums as someone always gets upset or trolls hitting downvote button .I’m not in a competition with anyone so I left fb and quora for peace and I was weary about introducing myself and even wondered if I had to to get points. But so far what I have read seems mature and controlled . you don’t need to answer,I think I misunderstood you or him. A Meet up is guides coming from all around to meet?I should discard this but I’ll introduce myself since I am here.hi
Hi @PamelaWoodward , welcome to Connect. And yes, you misunderstud my position. I’m in this conversation just because I was suggesting to move to this section the original conversation, that was originally posted in a wrong place in the community.
And yes, a meetup is an event in which local guides meet together. Of course you are not forced to do this, nor other things. In any case, I would suggest you to find the time to read the “Getting started” section, just to better understand the structure of this place. There are many different section, in which you can have technical discussion, or just share photos, or enjoy the posts of other people. This depend of you, Connect is non an “invasive” place.
Then, again, welcome to Connect. I hope what I wrote can help you but, as I’m italian and my english is not so good, let me introduce you to our moderator, @TraciC , that for sure can answer you better than me.
Sounds great!. If everyone is serious The Brooklyn Botanical Garden is offering free admission from now through Feb. 28 2017 - a great meetUp spot, and then you can go (indoors/nearby, if need be) - Let’s collab on everyone’s AVAILABLE DATE/TIME - rather than focusing on what MAY NOT be good for everyone. This helps the host better organize and support his MeetUp idea.
