New Update On Desktop Road Editor-Look !!!

One of our very prominent top men on adding roads and active participant on TRAC brought this to my attention this morning. As usual I needed to look it up and check it out for myself before publishing and asking others on connect. My first question about this is that;

  • Has any other road editors also noticed this feature when adding roads on desktop?
  • The second question is what’s your take about it?

No doubt we do need more and more updates regarding the desktop road editor tool. We have been canvassing for more improvement in the time frame for approval/Rejection of roads on Google maps. One quick major disadvantage I don’t like is that as soon as the road is approved,this words or indication disappears. Or I didn’t notice them on the approved roads in the same area where the pending roads are. Lastly I am also realising that I have roads pending for more than a month ago which invariably will be rejected when the 90 days of pending elapses.

Comments Please !

Thank you @NareshDarji

Yes the orange dotted line is old but there is the inscription over it as shown in the photo Submitted by you on 7th March 2024. Have you noticed that?

Hi @SholaIB

I don’t remember the date not popping up when hovering the mouse over a pending road in the road editor.

I see @NareshDarji

I was so busy and absent from roads since last year after the last mini event we had.

I only started again in march 2024 and therefore just realised it.

Hello @SholaIB ,

Yes, your observations are correct, thank you for sharing. Here is my reply;

“Has any other road editors also noticed this feature when adding roads on desktop?”-Yes, I have noticed this feature recently on my desktop. I don’t find any use with that date.

“I didn’t notice them on the approved roads in the same area where the pending roads are.” - Yes, I have verified, it disappears after approved.

“I am also realising that I have roads pending for more than a month ago which invariably will be rejected when the 90 days of pending elapses.” -Yes, most likely, it will not be approved.

I do see the two aspects of that feature @SholaIB , but as I’m relatively new to this, I hardly know what’s an old feature or what’s new.

It seems new to me somehow.

@TerryPG a few months old that feature but I have just noticed it. I took a long break from.afding roads. Maybe it came at some point in my absence. Thank you for responding.

Hi @SholaIB @MortenCopenhagen

As @NareshDarji and @TerryPG mentioned, this is not a new feature and has been available since the first day of introducing the pending road orange color. It is even visible in the screenshots in the news post I shared.

Thank you for highlighting it, @SholaIB

However, as mentioned by @NareshDarji , this is not a new thing.

It was activated simultaneously with the orange dotted lines and, you are right, is telling us how old our edit is.

Regarding the rejection time limit, it is of 90 days like you correctly said. It doesn’t necessarily mean that a 30 days old edit will be inevitably rejected two months later, and in fact I had approved edits also after 89 days, as I documented more than once.

So don’t loose hope till an edit is rejected. And remember that, when an edit is rejected for overtime, you can submit it again. Two of my today’s approved edits were about roads just rejected yesterday after reaching the 90 days limit.
