New type of poi photo

I was browsing photos at Eleven Eleven Mississippi

@Mikeinthefalls you may know why

I found 2 photos labeled “storefront doordash”. You could not open the label to find anything out. If the POI owner posts a photo, you can click on the label and it opens like any other Guides name would.

Here is a screenshot of one of them.

Vielleicht liegt dort nur ein Fehler vor.

Hi @Rednewt74

Thanks for bringing this to attention. This is not new. I have seen such things before, photo uploader labels without the ability to click on their names, or even photos without mentioning a specific uploader name!

This could be because in general, the system couldn’t make the true connection between a specific account and a photo. For example, the Google account was disabled recently, or the photo comes from an external resource, or some other similar things.

In this case, DoorDash is an online food ordering platform and offers a plugin for websites called “DoorDash Storefront”. So, Google is retrieving this photo from that source for Pan Seared Mediterranean Seabass
(Which itself gets a photo from Yelp) and because that source definitely is not a Google account, we can not click on it.

Yes @Annaelisa

If the owner adds a photo, on the web, we don’t see a 2nd line that shows the name of a specific user. But still, as @Rednewt74 also mentioned, we can click on the name of the owner to see an account like other accounts on Google Maps. On the app, it is even more like other users and there is no difference in labeling the owner under the photo.

So ist es, aber vielleicht war das ganze in Alfred gezeigten Fall noch nicht komplett

@PaulPavlinovich ,

Thank you for the reference. I didn’t see where it references the photos. Doesn’t appear to be something the doordasher snapped. How/who do you think the photos get posted.

After reading reading @Amiran 's comment, combined with yours, I think my questions have been answered. Were you already familiar with the topic or did you research it

Thank you for your assistance.

I’ll be interested in seeing if these become more frequent.

The photos are not “snapped” by Door Dash. The company uploads images provided by the vendor via the API. They’re not from either Local Guides nor are they from Google My Business. The provider is not a user in the “traditional” sense which is why you cannot click their name to see their contributions. Yes I knew about the program being implemented @Rednewt74 - will they be more frequent? Door Dash have been doing it all over the world. It would not surprise me if other similar organisations get in on the game too.
