The Local Guides program has had a significant impact on everyone’s life. To me, Local Guides are the new heroes of the world.
In the past, there used to be heroes who were very strong, won wars, stayed alive after big fights, shortly left their marks on history. But I think the meaning of word “hero” is different in todays world. Because the values which will save the world are love and goodness, not fighting abilities. I believe we are in the biggest war that this old world has never seen before. It’s the war between evil and goodness. And in this world the ones who helps much people is valuable not who kills the most. And I think to be a hero is much easier today. You just need to look for a way helping other people. You don’t need an ability to use a gun, you don’t need to be a CEO, you even don’t need money. There are many ways to do it. Being a Local Guide is one of the easiest, cheapest and funniest ways of being a hero. Just help people with your experience who wants to try something which you have tried before or go somewhere which you have been before.

For example think a family who also has children. The parents are working for some companies. They have to choose the right place for holiday because they have just a few days for it during the whole year. If the selection is wrong they have to wait for next year to have another chance. They are looking for alternatives on the net and decide to select a hotel according to the photos on their website. But you have been there before and saw that the place is so different from the photos and the service is even not close to the mentioned on the web. You took the real photos and wrote your terrible experience as a local guide. When they check the local guide’s comments they will see your photos and comments and they probably will change their decision. You saved the only chance that they have. You are their hero!

We can give another example for small business owners. There are many talented ones between the streets who are not where they deserve. You, as a local guide, can highlight and put forward that small business between its competitors. So guess what, you are the hero for that small store.
