Hi everybody. Many times I wish there were new features in google maps. Even though I have given a lot of feedback I wanted to speak my mind and leave here some of the ideas I have to improve google maps in the future. Of course anyone is welcome to add their thoughts and input on this topic
For reviews I think it’s about time to have a 10 star system or at least a 5 star system with the possibility of adding half stars. Many times I find myself pondering whether to give 4 or 5 stars.
For restaurants I’d include a score system for the price, quality and abundance of the food, and for the speed of the service, among other parameters.
In general, whenever I have to pay for a service, food, attraction, access, etc I always consider if whatever I get is worth the price I payed. So, a price-quality ratio score would be great.
When you add a review, I’d add a box to specify the exact date (and maybe time window) of the visit of the place you are reviewing, because sometimes you post a review of a place much later than the actual visit, or edit it and then gets the date of the update, not the visit itself.
In your profile, I’d love to have the ability to see all, sort and choose your review categories and which ones you want to be displayed in your profile. Right now it is automatic and cannot be changed.
Being able to sort and filter your “want to go” places. I have so many that it is a pain every time I want to look for a specific place or kind of place in an area.
@Trachemysta@AdamGT In this connection I would suggest in Connect an additional 9 Dash Board for Top Reviews and to be given importance to Total Review likes than Total Review Numbers or Points since so far it was not included so as to promote quality than quantity I feel Reviews to be given more importance being mostly neglected.
We all have ideas that we’d wish to see on Google Maps, especially on the Local Guides contribution management side @Trachemysta. I myself have ideas that go back some 6 years All we can do is submit our ideas and hope that one day they will be implemented.
Hopefully I’m not misunderstanding you here @jojo522 but indeed reviews are certainly important i8n fact, wait a couple of weeks and look out for a new board that will emphasize this.
Thanks @AdamGT , @MortenCopenhagen Appreciate the present Leader Board especially for Top Points of Top Positions of Top Levels without competition thereby enriching spirit of overall growth in the community. But would like another suggestion if possible. Since most of the LG’s could not join the Leader Board due to any reasons I would like to know is there any default system by which all LGs contributions to be included by default without joining the Board so that it gives the correct picture. I mean at the moment those who are participating in the Leader Board being included while many not joining not included resulting in wrong projections. Hope it is clear.
