This might be taking place in batches @Amiran in sequence. May be some unknown algorithm.

@Kumaarsantosh only as of yesterday, March 27, 2024, I also see the count in my profile on the desktop, but not the option under edit a place.

I just checked on Android, found the option and marked a place using that option, but so far the count did neither increase under Android nor on the desktop. Not sure, if the “don’t know” only applies to a wrong name or also for incorrect coordinates, i.e. a place which cannot be there according to the satellite pictures, such as this one.

While exploring the new updates I saw this under the contribution table but I am unable to figure out what it means . Can someone explain briefly about it .

Great to hear that you have also got it in your profile on the desktop. The main post in this thread is already updated here under Update as on 27-March-2024 for ‘Reported incorrect’ category is now available for Desktop as well. This is the latest update as it was there earlier only for Android.

Yes- this option you will not find under ‘Suggest an edit’ specifically as ‘Reported incorrect’ but when you check the box for Do not know, but this is incorrect under any of these tabs: Place name, Category, Location and submit. It goes through the accuracy check by Google. Once accepted ‘1’ point is awarded to the contributor and it reflects in the contributor’s profile as explained here under Update as on 08-March-2024.

As I can see you already have ‘1’ under Reported incorrect category in your profile after the latest stat update. Please check and confirm.

Correct @Kumaarsantosh , I saw the “1” on both platforms next morning.

I just checked, the pin still shows on the map and since I actually did visit the place, I just reported it as “Does not exist here” and while writing my comment here, received the mail “Your edit was published”

Funny enough, finding the banner photo of the same village, showing a place, I do know … but about 30-50 km away :grinning: . I just did report as problem “Does not show the place”, but so far these kind of reports were never successful for me :disappointed_relieved:

Some times it takes more time than usual to apply the reported correction @WilfriedB with the described working process. Yes - at times it appears to be funny but that’s the truth. :grinning: Isn’t that? :grinning:

So, I may not edit the place but only report info is incorrect? It feels strange. I edited many poi’s and still see 0 on my profile in section reported incorrect, I find it strange only indicating something is incorrect without editing it.

Yes @KattyGeltmeyer , Google mode of operandi for ‘Reported incorrect’ is that only however while reporting incorrect one has to be very firm with the disagreement. And, it happens at times, we do not know the exact correction but at least we are sure of the incorrectness in the information available.

e.g. you find a particular business at a particular location on the google Map. You are sure of that location and you know also that there is no such business exists at that location but you do not know exactly where this particular business is operating from? What will you do?

In my view, you should mark this as ‘Do not know, but this is incorrect’. Google will further investigate and basis the truthfulness of what is reported action will be taken and accordingly point is awarded for the ‘edit’ to the LG who reported it.
