Never Like Fish out of Water

It is rather unseemly that a local may run into a blind alley in his or her city. But same cannot be said of tourist or visitor to a new city; an adventurous and itinerant traveller looking for a watering hole shouldn’t be too hard to find even in an unfamiliar terrain.

This is where Google Maps comes in and dare I say enter the Local Guides. Ever since I got bumped to sign on, I have been enamoured by the desire to help improve it - more like a hand holding exercise, to help visitors circumnavigate to discover somewhere really strange with dark secrets, a rifle range, a race course, the best hairdresser or the barber’s shop, private bar and perhaps some forgotten monument and or secret underground tunnel that leads to nowhere!

I take delight in making it convenient to find things in my city. Some places are really very good like you will find in any other cities. And at the same time other places, trust me, are pretty well run down just like you will find elsewhere…

But when people rely on the local knowledge of #LocalGuides to help them choose where to stay, dine or recreate, there has to be that certainty that these #LocalGuides are a network of people who love their cities and are able to provide smart and helpful service, and are really sure not to lead anyone into a blind alley.

When people visit a community be it for business or pleasure, they want to have value for money in a safe and secure environment. This is why I do contribute as Local Guide to help visitors and in a broader context help shine light on those small and medium businesses that will benefit from customs on one hand and provide huge opportunity to improve on the other hand through the reviews.
