Never a dull moment in Westown!

Let me just start this off by saying how much energy and effort goes into all their menus!

DINNER

SUNDAY - THURSDAY 5 pm - 9 pm

FRIDAY & SATURDAY 5 pm - 11 pm

The punny names for the item’s on the menu are as interesting as the food they go to, personally I recommend the M A U L T A S C H E N “ C A C I O E P E P E ” which has haus pasta, spinach, ricotta, egg which may quickly become a house favorite of mine! Or if your taste buds lean in a different direction (or you just want something less heavy digesting) you can’t go wrong with the TARTE FLAMBÉE which features
crispy flatbread, roasted beech mushrooms, crème fraîche, melted onion, by the way WOW how rares is any dish in Chicago with MELTED onions. I cannot begin to describe the flavor.

BAR

SUNDAY - THURSDAY 5 pm - 10 pm

FRIDAY & SATURDAY 5 pm - 12 am

Although the cocktails names are as funny the taste makes up for that, should you be interested ALWAYS go for the GERMAN VAC A T I O N IN MEXICO tequila, kümmel, cucumber, lime, basil. Getting to drastically different drinking aesthetics to literally blend so well is a rarity, you’ll do it for the curiosity but you’ll KEEP doing it for the flavor. The rest of the list is a swiss army knife is a mix of drinking preferences for any pallet from craft beers to wine by the bottle form Rose to sparkling…and YES the foot glass beer mug is real.

HAPPY HOUR

MONDAY - FRIDAY 5 pm - 7 pm

SATURDAY - SUNDAY 3 pm - 6 pm

Possibly the only true weak point of the menu, this is wear the food is the cheapest, and the star of the show is what booze you can wash it down with the saving grace for the wine curious is the wine of the week rotating selection, and to a lesser extent S P I C Y S M O K E D C H I C K E N L E G which has haus fermented hot sauce, and white BBQ AND it’s super cheap.

FUNKENBRUNCHEN

SATURDAY - SUNDAY 10 am - 3 pm

Debatable at least for me some of the best things on their menu but it’s soooo rare to get. the entire brunch cocktail list is the stuff of legends there’s only about 4 but I can’t even decide which is my favorite gotta drink’em all guys!

But for the brunch menu my personal faves are MUSHROOM, TRUFFLE & EGG grits, oyster mushrooms,
chicory, truffle vinaigrette, shaved parmesan, soft egg.I don’t know how they did it but they made the flavors blend almost too well together nothing overpowers anything and it needs NO salt since no part of it is bland. BRUNCH SALAD spinach, greens, hot smoked salmon, roasted sweet potato, pear, pickled veggies, pepitas, soft egg.My tongue can’t decide if this dish is either sweet or salty but the colors and flavors for a salad are none too common in west town, I recommend this for the health conscious BUT those also interested in unique flavors! SPAETZLE CARBONARA spaetzle, bacon, onion, English peas, soft egg. and parmesan rounding out the soft egg family this dish is one of the few on the menu I heavily modify but to be fair it’s more of a removal (the onions) which lets me still end up enjoying this dish, I can easily say this one is the weakest of the 3 but my primary issue is the chick peas texture mixing with everything else, maybe remove that from it when you order it?

This place is an 8/10 for me and easily in my top 10 places to visit when I have friends over!
