Nepali Chhawani Temple, Konhara Ghat, Hajipur, Bihar , India

Konhara Ghat is a famous ghat located in Hajipur district Vaishali. Being located near the confluence of Gandak and Ganga, it is famous among devotees for taking holy dips in addition to being a cremation ground. The King of Nepal ordered his commander Matbar Singh Thapa to build a Shiva temple on this ghat in the 18th century, due to which it is also called Nepali Cantonment Temple. The temple is built in the Nepali style, featuring elements like a tiered roof and plinth, and a pagoda-style design. Lingam is placed in the centre of the square chamber which can be accessed from all the four sides and Nandi is sitting on a pedestal outside the square chamber.

The most significant feature of this temple is the carvings of erotic images in the wooden brackets, which are supporting the rain protection shades.

It can be accessed easily from the Capital Patna by car as it’s hardly 21 km. This is a popular tourist attraction and a place of worship.
