When I select a topic from the main page, say Travel, and click the ‘Start a post’ button, the subsequent page where I comose the post asks me to pick the Travel category again.
I expect this to be selected automatically.
Any idea why this is happening.

Hello how are you doing?
I noticed the same but the truth is that I did not care, because it is not a problem to select again the category where we are publishing.
Furthermore it seems to me that it serves to confirm that you are publishing in the right place.
Hope my comment helps you!
Thanks, regards!

Yes, I know this very earlier.
But I had thought to publish idea on this, but I didn’t.
Because if we by mistake choose topic of our post travel.
Then I find that it’s related to Local Stories.
It’s create very critical situation. Because we already written our content in dialogue box.
Then it’s more difficult and waste of time.
As @SebaasC mention it’s correct and I believe the same.

Hi @SebaasC
I am fine.
“I**t serves to confirm that you are publishing in the right place”
Haha, this is a positive and optimistic way of looking at things.
This is clearly an inconsistency or a slightly broken feature, but minor enough to be ignored.
It certainly creates a little confusion for me but I agree to not take it ahead and live with your suggestion.

Thanks for commenting, @KishorMali
So, you mean to say this is a special and well-thought provision to supposedly rectify a mistake?
In that case, it is possible to simply display the selected category at the top in a drop-down list from which one can change the topic if required.
This is not the case, however.
If you have selected a topic already AND do not select it again, it displays an error and does not allow you to proceed with posting. This is clearly a bug and not a feature.
Anyway, as mentioned already to SebaasC, I will leave it here.

This is not an issue @TusharSuradkar .
I agree with @SebaasC and @KishorMali . I was also thinking that why It asks the Topic once more. But this can be an Idea given by any local Guide.

I agree with you.
I also mention about my idea, but it’s gives us to pick up topic very easily on one place.
At the place all topics are available.
So feel free to select.
I don’t agree with it’s bug or error.
It’s more accessible .
And it’s great for new local guides.

It’s not an issue and not a problem.
This is simple discussion.
And I feel that no need to solution for this.
Hence, depends on you.
This topic you raised, it’s come in my very very earlier.
But it’s healthy feature to save our time. So I didn’t publish my idea at that time.
All the best.

I don’t know if this is an idea given by some LG or some feature designed by Google. Perhaps you must be knowing. I don’t want to get into this.
When I decide to write a post, I have a clear idea if that is going to be about Travel or Food or Photography or some other ‘Topic’, and trust me I can clearly differentiate and decide where to post.
So I go to the appropriate ‘Topic’ on the main page and click ‘Start a Post’ followed by entering a Title and then typing the main post. There is no doubt to me about the ‘Topic’ at this moment.
When trying to publish the post, it is sufficient for me if there is a message that asks me to confirm if I want to post in that particular ‘Topic’ - I won’t mind this. I can simply confirm and proceed.
But here is a clear case where Connect tells me that there is an 'Error" and asks me to select a Topic whereas I had clearly selected it before proceeding. I am not able to understand why you can’t see this after repeating so many times and illustrating with a picture.
Anyway, as mentioned earlier, I am leaving this here and learning to live with this nuance.

Thanks, @KishorMali
This clearly an issue and a problem to me hence I have taken the time to report.
Maybe you do not have an issue with it, but that is not the subject of discussion here.
I definitely need a solution and I have clearly described how the solution should be in another reply in this discussion.
I clearly don’t see it as a time-saver. In fact it is wasting my time by forcing me to pick the Topic again.
Don’t you think?

I agree with your point of view.
But Reselection of topic takes only 1to 2 seconds.
So, I think it’s not a problem.
. Connect follows universal mechanism means that it’s helpful to all local guides community.
Not an individual one!!
When your problem are solved then you feel free to accept as solution of local guide reply.
But here you, directly accept.
Hence, the problem that you believe it’s not solved.
For proper answer I tag @ErmesT .
He guide us to what’s exact?

I have already accepted a fair reply by SebaasC as a solution along with a decent closing reply.
This is not a dispute between me vs others.
So it is not necessary to tag people.
Tagging should be left best to the person who originally posted the top - which is me.
I found something on this website which I think is a problem to ‘me’.
Please stop insisting that it is not a problem - I have never invited opinions.
Why are you so hell-bent on getting me to accept that I should not see it as a problem?
Please leave it to me to decide what I see as good and what I see as a problem in the community.
Do I have to be more explicit than this, my friend?
Much Thanks.

Hey!! @TusharSuradkar
Suddenly I checked my past ideas, I think this idea helps you and also many local guides.
And may be it’s works.
Automatic Selection Topic of post.
I posted on 7/5/2020.
Check this.

Hi @TusharSuradkar ,
Thanks for reaching out to the community! : ]
Regarding your inquiry, please be noted that your observation would align as intended on Connect.
When choosing to Start a Post, It will redirect you to the stage for you to write a post and the category would be voided, allowing Local Guides to choose during or after the compiling the written part of the post.
Should the subject be re-written and constructed as an idea, do feel free to share with us in the Idea Exchange.
Much appreciated also from @SebaasC , as it is indeed an interesting observation. (I just wanted to let you know that the Solution tag has been removed from the reply)

Thanks for the detailed response. You are always so didactic.
As I I said in my first comment, I don’t find is an issue to select twice the board where we are starting a post.
Furthermore is a help to remind us ( in my opinion ) where are we going to write.
Some times for example when I started a post, I thought that would be suitable for the Travel board but when I do the final check and re-read the text for the last verification and check the pics I realise that the better board was Local Stories, so you have to make the change .
I think that there are a lot of more important thing to discuss about this wonderful Community.
In my opinion we have to be alway possitive and accept some things like they are, cause they are not so important. We have to contribute, but always in a positive way!
Best wishes!

Your statement:
“When choosing to Start a Post, It will redirect you to the stage for you to write a post and the category would be voided”
Well, I can already see that.
My simple question is:
W H Y, my friend, W H Y ?
Come on, people.
It is simple programming fix wherein the current functionality remains AS IS and in case someone reaches the “Start a Post” page by clicking on a button called “Start a Post” under some pre-selected ‘Topic’, then the ‘Topic’ is pre-selected for the new post - AS SIMPLE AS THAT…!
Just acknowledge this little shortcoming and that this could be a possible enhancement and move on.
But the way everyone who has responded so far in this discussion is coercing me to believe and accept that this is NOT a problem is mind-boggling.
I don’t know what is at stake for accepting that the current workflow is wrong.
