“Welcome to Connect! If this is your first visit, you’ve come to the right place. This post will serve as a guide for everything you need to know about contributing content and engaging with the Local Guides community on Connect” This is the first of the information that you will find in “Your guide to Connect” , the introductory Guide of the community. In there you will find all the necessary information to know how to better contribute in the community
Our point are reflecting our contribution in Google Maps. The scope of the contributions is not to gain points, but to improve the information on Google Maps. Points, levels, and badging will give you an overview of the many ways we have to add information on Google Maps.
Also make sure to check your settings of your web and app activities. From your avatar on Maps App, tap on Your data in Maps, and make sure that Web and App Activity setting is On, otherwise your answers will not be counted (not giving points)
Do you have a doubt about how to do something? The Help desk is here for you, with a long list of post with detailed indications on how to post.
Which kind of contents we share in the community? What are Connect topics? will give you an explanation
Hello @mohammeduvez29 there are actually a lot of different ways to ‘score’ points. To find out about some of them, you could listen to a few episodes of the LetsGuide Podcast. Especially episode 10 would be a good one to start with as it covers several ways to get points in a 100% honest way.
My tip, just contribute quality content and be patient.
It will happen eventually.
You can spam your way up the levels but just going about the process when you can and getting organic growth seems like a more genuine route to me.
There isn’t some magical prize when you reach higher levels (is there?) so there’s no need to rush it and lower your standards.
My best tip for you would be to study the #LGCTM project it will give you so many great tips you can use. Note all the sub-pages also.
Best of luck.
And remember every contribution should be thoughtful, correct, and always helpful to Maps users.
Cheers
Morten
@mohammeduvez29 like what others have said, try not to get hung up too much about levels. Quality over quantity. Don’t make it a goal to get to level 10 as fast as possible, but focus on the quality of your contributions.
Try to incorporate your contributions into your daily life, and make it a habit. You’ll climb levels even before you know it.
Hello @mohammeduvez29 ,
Welcome to Connect and thanks for reaching out! I am happy to see you are motivated to contribute and help people make good choices on Maps. I am also very glad to see that you already received so many valuable answers from other Local Guides.
In addition to what they told you, I would add this interesting link, where you can find some answer to the important question Why be a Local Guide?
I also wanted to let you know that I just marked @ErmesT 's comment as a solution. To know more about the topic, you can read the following article: How do I mark comments as solutions?
