Need: Tips for getting people to attend a meet-up

What are some tips for getting other local guides to attend a meet-up? I think day-of-the-week might be a factor. Also time-of-day. What seems to work best: weekend meet-ups? Mon-Friday meet-ups? Evenings?

Hello @Karin-Wilson-NC

Are talking about virtual or physical meet-up now? I have hosted both,I have hosted about 20 meet-ups on connect.

One thing I’ll tell you about meet-up is you definitely have to gain or win the confidence of the local guides you are inviting or have invited. Let them know how friendly or knowledgeable you can be on the subject of meet-up. In other words make friends!!!

About the time, weekend and maybe midday or afternoon does good in general depends on what part of the world the local guides are attending from.

Remind the people involved as much as you can. Do remind them as the day and time draws near. Get someone who can invite another one and get the network going.

Lastly publicise it as much as you can social media connect etc. Mind you I have done solo meet-up, all by myself and it was even featured on connect as one of the best meet-up :ok_hand:

Cheers

Hello @Karin-Wilson-NC

After the covid, I held one physical meetup and no one showed up I heard this is normal. My virtual one has more luck. To be honest, virtual is easier to get more attendees by giving a reminder couple of days prior to the meeting and following up by sharing the meetup link and subject matter in the Whatsapp group.

I hope this will answer your question  cheers from Michigan!

Make a meet up plan for offline meet-up:

  1. when you have a destination decided?

inform the crowd that you expect to come that

  1. what you expect and what they can expect from this meet up?

  2. Date and time?

  3. How many people can be accommodated in the selected venue?

  4. What other expenses will happen like food arrangements or not?

I hope this would be helpful
