Need Help: How to Add a Pedestrain Skyway Above Existing Pedestrian Walkways?

For example, as the 3 red-rectangled areas in the screenshot below:

The curved pedestrian/bike skyway I was attempting to add is not connected to the existing walkways below it at the three rectangled areas, but Google Map would force the connections when I try to create it. Currently there doesn’t seem to be a way to avoid the incorrect connections. Could Google Maps consider adding an editing function to fix this issue in the future?

Kindly regards.

Hi @HeiXinMi

This is not something we can fix. Only Google staff can.

Such data issues are better dealt with in the Maps support forum.

Hit the Community tab at the top and make a post. You need to attach documentation supporting the change you are proposing. Photos or links to streetview images can ofter be helpful.

Without some good documentation you will not be successful.

What I did in a similar situation, @HeiXinMi was to break the pedestrian line immediately before the intersection to restart immediately after that.

My edit was approved, probably due to the fact that the category was different from the road that we are intersecting.

In any case this is an interesting point and I will try to escalate it

Oi, @HeiXinMi

“The curved pedestrian/bike skyway I was attempting to add is not connected to the existing walkways below it at the three rectangled areas, but Google Map would force the connections when I try to create it.”

Sucesso

Hi @HeiXinMi

The trick is to remove the existing roads, draw your path and then cancel the deletions to restore the removed roads.

This will put the existing roads under the new path you drew.

This works well when adding a road going above an existing road, which is your case here. However it seems to not be possible to do this trick to add a new road that goes under an existing road. But Google may correct the road height when verifying the edit so it is still worth a try.

Hope this helps!

Hi @HeiXinMi

As I experienced, They will draw the correct skyway even when we have no choice rather than create it by those “additional intersections”.

On the desktop, I only draw the pedestrian bridge over a road and the system made the connection to the road, but after approval, I saw Googlers drew it without those wrong connections. At that time, no SV were available and they did it only based on the Satellite and background GPS data.

Thanks, @L-C

To be honest, this is a nice trick.

Although I told Googlers will draw the correct road even by those additional intersections, this suggested method is more accurate and also more enjoyable while drawing. I drew some roads by this method and I’m waiting to see the result.

We migrated from Map Maker because it was buggy and many similar tricks were needed, but even in Map Editor we haven’t suitable tools and should use such tricks!
