Nature and Travels!!!

As a little boy I was born and brought up in the city of Lagos-Nigeria and I loved every moment of it. As an adult now and as a local guide I get to travel around and see alot of wonders in nature. I love to see them!!!.

In your travels have you ever come across :

  • An Anthill
  • Do you ever wonder what’s inside it?
  • Do you ever wonder what’s going on in there?
  • Would you like to see a little?

Below is the answer to some of your questions.

I love to see nature in it’s raw estate. This is one of them. This Anthill was actually in the way of some construction so we needed to get rid of it. Then suddenly wait!!! It’s an Anthill. It should have a queen. We searched and here she is.

The Anthill is a colony that comprises of male and female workers and of course the queen Ant. Usually it’s a Queen per hill but studies have shown that it could have more than one queen.

The Queen’s sole responsibility is to reproduce while she is well taken care of.

Facts about the Ant and Ant hill.

  • Do you know that Ants do kiss? This is how nutrients are transferred from one ant to another and identify is confirmed this way as well
  • Do you know that there is at least 2million Ants in an hill ? Studies have shown that it could be more than that.
  • Do you know that they are wie creatures? The holy book has it that because they work in the summer to store up food and the are orderly we should learn from them.

Am sure as LGs we see alot of things in nature, please feel free to share some things you have come.accross in nature in the course of your travels and guiding.

Hi @SholaIB ,

Thats interesting, thanks for sharing!

It was even mentioned in the Qur’an (Chapter 27) how they are orderly. Beautiful yet creepy creatures.

Thanks for a wonderful topic and a wonderful post @SholaIB

The photo is amazing and though I have sen anthills in my school-days they were not so big as the one seen in your pic.

Do these anthills stay there permanently? or do the ants build new ones each year?

Wow @Sagir thank you a bunch great to see even a better picture of the ant queen. It’s a great colony really. That’s the 1s time I saw a queen when we dug through that. I was thrilled. Thanks for replying and adding.

Thank you @Nuhuu . They are very orderly and hardworking. It takes alot of effort to build that as small as they are.

Thank you for noticing my post @TusharSuradkar . I don’t think they build every year. It is permanently up. If they are not destroyed by any human or external force. It stays up for years. I have seen bigger ones than this one I have on the post. If a part of it gets broken they also do repairs and continue in their castle.

Cheers
