Hey, burger fanatics! Guess what? Today, May 28th, is a glorious day – it’s National Hamburger Day!
While no one really knows how this burgerlicious day came to be, its timing near Memorial Day and summer makes perfect sense. Who needs an excuse to enjoy a juicy burger anyway, right?
Americans Love Burgers🍔
Let’s be real, hamburgers & cheeseburgers are pillars of American cuisine. We’re talking an estimated 50 BILLION burgers consumed by Americans each year! According to research from Circana, the average U.S. consumer eats 26 burgers a year from restaurants and other food spots. That’s a lot of burger love!
And it’s no surprise that burgers and cheeseburgers consistently rank as some of America’s favorites. YouGov’s list of The Most Popular American Dishes places the hamburger at an impressive 83% popularity (tied with fried chicken and grilled cheese!), with the cheeseburger close behind at 82%. Only fries (85%) and mashed potatoes (84%) sneak in just ahead.
