National Bird Day is an annual event that takes place on January 5th in the United States. It is a day to celebrate and appreciate the beauty and importance of birds, as well as to raise awareness about the challenges that birds face and the ways that people can help to protect them.
Many bird enthusiasts and conservation organizations hold events and activities on National Bird Day to educate the public about birds and encourage people to take action to protect them. Some ways that you can celebrate National Bird Day include:
Going for a bird walk or hike and observing the birds in your area
Feeding and providing water for birds in your yard or neighborhood
Planting native plants and flowers that provide food and habitat for birds
Supporting bird conservation organizations and their efforts to protect birds and their habitats
Sharing information about birds and the importance of protecting them with your friends and family.
These are amazing photos @AnuradhaP ! You’re very lucky to have such an active balcony view.
I was exploring southern Arizona a couple of months ago and stopped at the Historic Canoa Ranch, between Tucson and the Nogales/Mexico border crossing. Apparently, it is an extremely active spot for birders. They even have a check list for bird watchers to use when they spot one of the 200+ species known to travel through the area.
I can add a Western Screech Owl (I believe) that took up an abandoned nest in a Saguaro cactus in my yard
