Napier, a coastal city on New Zealand’s North Island, is set amid the renowned wine-producing region of Hawke’s Bay. Rebuilt after the 1931 earthquake when most of the city was destroyed. The city is known for Art Deco landmarks like the Masonic Hotel and the Daily Telegraph Building among many others. It is easy to walk anywhere in the center of the town admiring all the classic Art Deco buildings.
I recommend a walk along the tree-lined waterfront promenade Marine Parade and in the garden you will come across the symbol of the city Pania of the Reefa statue depicting a Maori maiden.Napier is also home to New Zealands National Aquarium Museum where you can see the feeding of the Penguins and the fish in the large indoor tank.
If you like your wine then take a Wine Tour there are plenty available to choose from either a half to a full day.
Of course there are plenty of places to eat and drink, my favourite place is Driftssituated along the seafront and I would recommend the Lamb Shank it was delicious and at very reasonable price.
