Nairobi - The City of A Thousand Malls

Okay, the malls do not actually number to a real thousand, so you can turn your auto-correct off. However, the thing is that for an African city, Nairobi’s list of malls is incredible. Every major road in this city has a list of very exciting malls. Although, a number of Nairobi’s malls are struggling, the ones that have managed to pick up are doing really well. If I was to rank them, I wouldn’t be doing some of these malls justice, because the ones that rank higher have many rivals making the task of rating them even harder. This is why I prefer mentioning them and the amenities they have for one to make their own choice. The first on the list (nothing to do with rank) is The Hub in Karen. This is a very exciting space. It has ample parking, both basement and open space. It also houses East Africa’s most prestigious supermarket (Carrefour Supermarket). This is the only mall in Kenya with a Piazza for kids to play. The Hub also has several clothing brands such as, LC Waikiki. The French sports brand, Decathlon is a new addition. This was the first mall to have an eco-friendly taxi service – Nopia Ride (if you are in doubt, check out the battery charger for the electrical vehicles at the entrance). When you cross over to the East Side of Nairobi, there is the majestic Two River’s Mall. This space has revolutionized mall building not just in Kenya, but in East and Central Africa. Whether you want to shop and indulge or stay for leisure, dive in sizzling entertainment for the whole family, or looking for an office to work, this is the place. On your way from The Two Rivers Mall, you join Thika Road heading towards Thika Town. Serving Ruaraka area, Garden Estate and the surrounding communities is the Garden City Mall. Garden City and The Two Rivers Mall, are the only spaces that were built with a master plan that includes residential space. With these two, a part from visitors from far flunk areas, there was an opportunity for interested homeowners that wanted to avoid the hustle of making shopping a planned activity, a walk-to event. Other places that need to be included here are Signature Mall (the waterfall is to die for), Thika Road Mall (TRM), with breath-taking rooftop parking, Nextgen Mall, the Sarit Center, The Junction, Yaya Center, Southfield Mall, and Gateway Mall. Sorry, if I missed your favorite.
