This is a little story about a small country on the map, well-known as Georgia, but which is actually named Sakartvelo by Georgians. It has nothing in common with the USA State, it is located next to the Black Sea.
Tbilisi is the capital and is definitely worth visiting.
For past 10 years there has been an intensive flow of expats to Sakartvelo, along with the tourists from all over the world. They are very interesting and imaginative people. When such people come to visit the country and then stay, they make tours and tell other tourists the things they are told, not having checked the facts. This reasons in a very ridiculous outcomes, where two guides meet and tell two groups completely different fantastic stories, and not a single from real life. There remains very few authentic places and facts, concerning the heritage of the country, the city, the way it used to be in ancient times, the roads, the suburbs etc. People are getting more reluctant to seek for generic information or to read rare editions which are stored behind the massive walls of the State Library. Normally, the amendments should be done by the locals, who at least have similar education, who speak the languages and have their most part of lives spent here. Or the adding or editing I think is a thing of an expert, who arrives here to investigate the place and get to know better its archaeological or historical side.
What I like most about contribution is checking the facts and add the checked fact, which I have learned from a lecturer and have asked from an elderly living in the suburbs. Sometimes a 92 year old granny can become an answer to your question. This is why I also subscribed for a tour guide course and now listen to the lectures of one of the best historians of Tbilisi. We have lectures and practical excursions. This helps me become more efficient for everyone I know, for the guest who come to visit me or who are my customers (I work as a tour guide and as a freelance translator) and for the Maps. This will help me to give precise answer on questions concerning history , leaders of the past or architecture to my 3 children, who will study it when they become older.
