A quick Note:

It is told, that the Vijayanagara Empire kings (15th century) started these Celebrations. Celebrating 408th Mysore Dasara festival (in 2018), this Grand Function is a religious and martial event with royal support.

Here, this event refers Durga as the warrior goddess, “Chamundeshwari”. During this ten days, there are different competitions, athletics, singing, dancing, fireworks, military parades, flower shows and different exhibitions. On the ninth day, the “Royal Sword” is taken for a grand procession, escorted by elephants, camels and horses, Bands, etc…

The main attraction of the festival is, the illuminated “Mysore Palace” – daily, nearly 100,000 bulbs illuminate the Palace – Here are few shots for you.

I was accompanied by our @Saravanakanth (Photos are by, both of us) for an extended 18 hour photo-shoot session, in Srirangapatanam and Mysore, on 15th Oct. 2018.

Dear @ @TravellerG ,

You have done a excellent planning and it was a fantastic and unforgettable trip. We have covered around 30 locations in a stretch of 130 Kilometres in a single day where we worked for more than 20 hours. I have taken around 900 photos and videos during this trip. Also special thanks for teaching me to take photos in my DSLR camera in manual mode. I have learned nuances of photography during this trIp as well. Tons of electronic gadgets you brought for this trip is amazing.

It was an awesome moment when I saw the lighting in Mysore Palace. Thanks for the opportunity and hospitality…

You are very true, dear @DeniGu ; Mysore, totally goes into a festive mood!..

Unfortunately, so far, I could not attend the Royal Procession, due to it’s strict security reasons - still, will try next year, again.

Thanks
