Myanmar New Year Water Festival

In Myanmar we have our own calender and our new year coincides with mid April while I'm posting this photo and article. I live in #Mandalay , centre of Myanmar culture and where the last Kingdom reigned. During new year "Thingyan" Festival, we pour water with new leaves and flowers on each other wishing auspiciousness. The weather here is the hottest in April just before the rainy season begins., making sense that we pour water on each other so as to relieve the heat on us, on the environment and in the region. During "Thingyan" holidays, some people seek fun and some seek merit. We make festive traditional meals and snacks for the feasts. Among the monthly festivals in Myanmar, New Year "Thingyan" Festival is the most exciting to us.
