Sri Venkateswara Swamy Konda Temple is a beautiful and historic temple located on a steep hill near the harbor in Old Visakhapatnam City. It is about 10 km from the City Bus Complex. This temple is a major Hindu shrine and attracts many devotees and tourists. The word “Konda” in the temple’s name means hill. According to inscriptions, the temple was built in 1866 and later underwent many renovations. You’ll find small shrines of various deities on your way up. The main shrine of Lord Venkateswara Swamy is at the top of the hill. A hall attached to the temple displays images of the god’s various avatars, providing a peaceful area for worship. You can also see a beautiful view of the harbor and ships from the top. I visited the temple recently and shared my experience here.

The temple is part of three hills, located nearby, each is a place of worship for a different religion. On one hill stands the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Konda Temple, a Hindu shrine. On the second hill is the famous Ross Hill Church. The third hill is home to a Dargah for Muslims.

Reaching the Temple:

The temple is accessible by car or private transportation from the City Bus Complex.
Reaching the temple involves climbing narrow steps, which may be challenging for some visitors. Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair accessibility. There are no eateries at this location.

Temple Timings:

  • Sunday to Friday: Morning 7:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, Evening 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM
  • Saturday: Morning 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Evening 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM

Dress code:

Anything goes. Just leave your shoes at the entrance.

Cheers!

Very nicely articulated @PrasadVR. The photos are great. During my visit to Vizaag I missed this temple but visited Simhachalam temple of Visakhapatnam.

Simhachalam Temple is the most famous pilgrimage spot in Visakhapatnam. In Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Orissa, visiting this temple is considered a truly blessed experience. Thank you for your kind words, dear @Kumaarsantosh!
