“SINANGAG” is a Filipino Fried Rice. We usually eat sinangag for breakfast. In most cases, it is our way of recycling left-over cold steamed rice from the day before. There are hundreds of styles in how we cook it. Depending on individual’s preference of sides, toppings, spices, herbs and meat.
Here is one of my Sinangag versions.
Ingredients:
- Steamed rice
- Garlic (Minced)
- Onions (Minced)
- Green Peas (pre-cooked)
- Sausage (chopped)
- Eggs (pulled Scrambled Eggs and sliced Boiled Eggs)
- Dried Anchovies (pre-cooked, deep fried)
- cooking oil
- salt
How I cooked it:
- Sautee the garlic until brown, follow with the onions then then with the chopped sausage, then the green peas.
- Put in the steamed rice, sautee until your desired consistency, add salt.
- Mixed the scrambled eggs that were pulled to smaller pieces.
- Plate when ready… top with the dried anchovies and sliced boiled eggs. Enjoy…… (I like to top it with chopped spring onions too).
Fried Rice is one of my favorite food. I would love to learn your versions of “Sinangag” too…
