My Tryst With Google Maps: Things I Love to Share

Roughly 8-9 years ago, I wasn’t a tech savvy person. I used to rely on handmade road maps and handwritten addresses with landmarks to reach to a new place within Ahmedabad, a city where I had been born and brought up.

If the above options weren’t available, I would be dependent on someone to guide me or drop me to wherever I had to go.

This changed when Google Maps entered my life. Curated with robust technology and amazing detailing of each and every smallest routes and road – it never failed me. Google Maps became my favorite and trustworthy companion within my city. Google Maps proved to be a boon for me when I traveled into new cities and states.

The sheer dedication with which, Google Maps would update and improve their maps motivated me to join the clan.

My tryst with Google Maps happened a few years back with an aim to list new places, rate them, and provide honest reviews. Whenever I used to post any review/rate any place, I felt that I am helping the community to grow and be better. As the saying goes, ‘every small step counts’; I just hoped that my review would help a person visiting my city to make a better judgment of places he/she would like to visit.

Saying that, some of the things I love sharing on Google Maps are:

  • Food

I am a big time foodie and keep exploring new restaurants and cuisines. The love for the same made me start my food blog some years back. This love grew with the time as my only aim was to bring forth some of the amazing places on the map and give them their due. Till date, it is my sheer love and passion for the food that keeps me going and makes me travel to places far and wide.

Food is one of the important thing people hunts for when they are new in town and Google Maps are one of the reliable options to search for same. Hence, these keep inspiring me to keep updating and sharing my experiences on Google Maps.

  • Pictures

I believe any review is incomplete without proper pictures as pictures are the aspects that add touch of reality and reliability. After all, people believe what they see. And it also satisfies the inner photographer soul in me.

  • Hidden Gems

Going to a new place and exploring new local food or places is something many travelers dream of; at least I do. This entire idea challenges me to explore my city and other places I am travelling to locally and share it with my fellow explorers.

Moreover, Google Maps give me freedom to express what I want to and that is the best part of it.
