Exams were over and hence decided to do some backpacking in north India , without any conform tickets nor any travel plan i fill my rucksack with two pairs of cloths , my 2 person tent, mat and some dry food stuff and started from my home town Aurangabad maharashtra and went to Mumbai in morning via train.
Very next morning i took train to Amritsar and started the exciting journey in 2nd call coach and went sitting for next 36 hrs and reach Amritsar Punjab. Harmandir saheb runs 24*7 free bus service from temple to railway station and those yellow colour buses can tack you to temple complex
here you can stay in rooms they are free of cost as well as chargeable stays are also there , there is also langar seva where one can have food called as prasad . Kirtan at temple complex is worth watching and one can feel light byy doing so .
I stay there for 4 days and also visit jalinanwala bagh where 100s of indian were killed due to the curel british officer Genral O’Dyer , you can also go to wagha border and attend the flag off seremony in evening.
after that i again took train from Jamuu and went to mata vaishnav devi temple in katra which is in J/K
there is also a langar seva in rout
after spending 3 days in J/K again i went to rishikesh via train.
Rishikesh is worth seeing , its have plain, mountain, rivers, pure air
i also went for rafting there which cost me 1200 rs , again stay there in Hemkunt sahib gurudwara , attain ganga arti , and via haridwar again came home after staying there for 4 days .

It looks like an awesome backpacking trip! I’m glad you got the chance to explore and experience North India.
I am also impressed that you decided to go without any confirmed ticket or travel plan. It must have required a lot of courage and determination. I am sure it made the trip more exciting and memorable. @Tushar1001
Thanks for sharing your post with us.
thanks , @NareshDarji
these words are like motivation for me , i will try to post many such travel journeys which i have done in recent years.
What a wonderful trip @Tushar1001
I enjoyed every bit of the including the photos.
This reminded me about my trip to exactly these two places, Delhi, Amritsar and Rishikesh with my younger brother back in 1989.
Unfortunately, there were no cameras, not digital and not even film cameras. I bought my first one Kodak Croma in 1991
I was born and brought up in Aurangabad and currently live in Pune.
Feeling very nice to read about your solo trip to north India.
I also lived in Delhi for 4 years recently and went to Amritsar again after more than 30 years.
Here is the post about my recent visit, hope you like it.
