My trip part IV - The conclusion of a "memorable" tour.

The pre-final day again consisted of travelling for ten hours.
However, at this time, the journey was by the scenic highway along the pacific coast.
There were picturesque sceneries across the route.

The memorable one was Bixby creek bridge.

However, there was some travail at the end.
We missed the approach lane to the hotel. Next, a detour through the bustling traffic involved one more hour.

The next day consisted of a revisit to the iconic spots.
That included the most photographed bridge.

But what fascinates me evermore is a drive along Lombard Street.

Caption:- It’s always a thrill to drive car along this street.

There is some peculiarity about this place. “Maps” shows that as a place of interest.

Have you come across any other street which finds a representation on Maps as a POI?

And then, who will miss the tasty ice-creams at the Ghirardelli?

But we had to conclude the visit fast.
Locating a gas-station nearest to the airport remains an essential aspect before returning a self-drive rented car. A customer has to assure the gas tank is full.

And then, a surprise, we received a random TSA pre-check.
That eliminated the anxiety of what to do with the inconvenience I gained at the Grand Canyon!

Thanks for sharing your trip, beautiful photo & interesting story of the street of Lombard Street you found trill, I found bit risky it looks like zig zag way. Nice after this you can cool yourself with ice cream.

Great post to conclude your tour, and thanks to your photos we can really see how this places look like and some important details.

Thanks for sharing @C_T

When did you traveled there ?

Did you hear the sound when the wind passes through the bridge?

Thanks for your appreciations @RosyKohli

Driving through Lombard Street prevails a wish of every visitor. The thrill is challenging.

Nevertheless, we cross the route just in five minutes.

Thanks for the compliments @LaloPadilla

I was there in the last week of December 2019.

This was my second visit.

This time, I did not venture out on to the bridge but managed to capture some pics from one end.

Thank you for sharing some wonderful and memorable pictures of the trip on the western coast of the US.

I had taken this route from LA to SanFran by Amtrak train and the scenes are equally mesmerizing

The Golden gate bridge looks its best in the sunshine in your photos,

Unfortunately, I reached there on a gloomy December afternoon as seen in the picture in this article.

Can you tell what a TSA pre-check is?

I visited the Golden Gate twice. Once in Dec’17 & recently in Dec’19.
Luckily, the atmosphere was sunny on both occasions.

However, I did not walk across the bridge in the recent visit as the movement was painful, though I could capture that on my phone.

TSA or the Transport Security Administration is equivalent to our CISF.

There are three levels of checks while passing through TSA screening.

The usual with X-ray scan.

The feared one SSSS when the agents would take you aside & do a thorough check. The boarding pass contains a statement “See the Agent”.

The relaxed one TSA pre-approval. Here one faces shorter queues.

Travellers have to apply and pay for that, go through a rigorous evaluation process & then avail that for five years.
Foreigners can also apply through their passport issuing authorities.

The exercise is worth when someone is a frequent traveller. The prequalified passengers clear the checks in five minutes max.

However, even those who have not applied can get that status through a random allotment. Usually, Families stand a chance to get that occasionally.
That act is an advertisement to attract travellers by making them aware of the benefits.

Golden Gate is the most photographed bridge in the world. Like Tajmahal, that’s a favourite item here on Connect.

तुम्ही मला उत्तरात टॅग केलेले दिसत नाही मात्र मजकूर वरून तो माझ्या साठी आहे असे समजते

I was just about to say this after looking at the photo - it is almost the same location in both mine and your photo, the perspective looks identical

Informative & Interesting post, dear @C_T

“…a surprise, we received a random TSA pre-check…” - wow - that might have saved you a lot of time & avoided some inconveniences… right?

“…inconvenience I gained at the Grand Canyon!..” - What happened? Ji

Thanks for your appreciation @TravellerG

The inconvenience was a removable plaster + bandage around the right arm.
