In 2016, I discovered an opportunity to contribute to my community. Like many other local guiders, we have all had our fair share of experiences (good or bad) of places (local stores, hotels or cities) we visited and wanted to share our experiences with friends and the world. This was one opportunity the local guide gave me.
What about looking for a location while driving, only to discover that the place either does not exist or do exist and was missed out on the google map. In 2018, I and a colleague went out visiting various hubs and co-working space in Lagos, Nigeria and we had to depend on the google map to achieve our goal. Imagine if we do not have local guides populating our map? On this journey, we visited one of the hubs and discovered that they were rather not on the map. After discussion and consent of the hub management, I took a few pictures of the place and in less than 10 minutes they were added on Google map. This would help others searching for them to easily use the map to get to them.
Again in 2018, my visit to Egypt was awesome with various opportunities to visit both Cairo and Sharm El-Sheikh. It was another opportunity to capture moments and share reviews of places visited for others to make informed decisions while using Google maps reviews to decide places to visit.
