What does the Local Guides program mean to you?
Google Maps is one of the greatest examples of how technology can change the world and how it brings the world closer. The local guide program is a benchmark of how community involvement makes information sharing easier.
My name is Anoop Puthanveetil, and I am proud to say that I am a Local Guide Level 7 from Kerala, India. My place reviews are from places that I find along my travels. I’m not a photographer but I love photography, not a big traveler either but love travelling, just like any other average person. Throughout my time as a local guide, I have never traveled for reviewing or adding places or photos of locations. I prefer to do that for the places I stumble upon, which is why most of my reviews reflect local businesses and rural places. I find it a great way for small businesses in rural areas to have greater visibility, effectively making Maps richer with information, both about the area and the businesses.
It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that our contributions to the map helps thousands across the globe. Every reviews, creating places, photos, ratings and other related activities help many people by providing them with easy access to information about places, businesses, travel destinations and even in the most remote corners of the world, all at your fingertips.
It is amazing and happy to know that what we do makes life easier for users as well as the local businesses, providing a medium for them to get connected, even from two different ends of the world. It is incredibly satisfying to know that we play a part in bring the world closer together
My reviews are my footprints…
