My review being rejected no appeal

I spent a long long time writing an amazing review for a place as I do with alot or my reviews and this one wheb I visited in Barcelona, and it’s been rejected and i don’t see a appeal button, it’s really frustrating as the pics I added to that review are also affected. Is there anyone in the google map administration that can take a look. I’ve attached a copy of the review to this post.

Hello @zeemirza , welcome to the forum. First of all, the problem you are experiencing is related to the newly developed artificial intelligence of Google Maps. There are many people who experience this like Aenin, but it will be fixed as soon as possible. Don’t worry. Have you tried to object to your comment so that it can be published faster? Also, as a final warning, since the topic is more about asking for help, I recommend you move your post to the help desk section. :+1:t2:

Hi I posted this review nearly a year ago I didn’t realise it was rejected then when I appealed nothing happend and then I didn’t get the option to do anything about it. What really frustrates me is all the support material to get it sorted brings you back to the same point with no possible way of of reporting it. So I’m out of options… my hard work in writing the review changing it to see if it triggers anything haven’t worked.

Hi @zeemirza

You were notified because your review was about a place in the EU.

However I am not sure to understand the sequence of actions. In your reply you mentioned that “when I appealed nothing happend” while in the first post you said that “it’s been rejected and i don’t see a appeal button”.

Can you explain? Having or not having an appeal button available when you tap on details depends of the kind of violation detected by the AI:

An appeal button is usually available when the issue is related to the text, while the suggested action to take when when the issue is related to an attached media is to edit the review (removing the media).

If you appealed in a few days you will receive a feedback via email, telling you if the review was posted or if the appeal was rejected.

On the second case you can’t appeal again for the same content. What you can do is to edit the review then, if it is rejected again, you can appeal another time.

However your review appear to be very similar to an AI generated review, and this can be the issue.

Honestly, using a less pompous text and more referring only to personal experience would make the review more realistic, while this one, and many others, really seem to be written by an AI. Furthermore, most people who read reviews stop at the second paragraph, so writing such long reviews is counterproductive. Furthermore, this could also be the reason why as many as 97 of your reviews are not published.

You are not notified about the other 96 because the notification is active only for review written about locations inside the EU.

Regarding your hidden reviews you can appeal for the team to check your account by filling out the form that you can find in this post: An update on how we moderate Google Maps reviews

At 1st I thought it maybe because I put my name in or had my Instagram so I removed. It… I’ve been doing Google Reviews for like many many years. So I genuinely put more effort into my Reviews especially if I find that I’ve had such a wonderful experience. I try to include things that I find useful when reviewing the place, the food the atmosphere the decor the service etc but I find it useful when I read reviews to have an honest and complete picture. When the review was rejected I apealed and removed anything I felt may have stopped it being approved… but had no option to re submit… i also added my pictures to the review and removed them from my phone once i reviewed so i cant even delete and try re reviewing. I visited Barcelona and Reviewed so many places and alot of the places got rejected all were approved after appeal but this review one of my best didn’t. I didn’t do my review till a month later when I was back in the UK. So I thought maybe Google felt I didn’t actually visit the place?

No, @zeemirza , where you write your review is irrelevant.

When did you submitted the appeal?

Have you received an answer after appealing?

If not you should wait. Once you appeal the button will disappear, but if you edited the review after appealing the appeal will be cancelled.

Wow when I’ve done a search to find out when I did the apeal it was back in July, however I’ve found and email that says it was approved!!! However it still says rejected on my review has somone forgotten to actually approve it?,

I really think Google need to do alot of improvement to their AI system which automatically rejects reviews for no good reason. I’ve had many reviews automatically rejected but when reviewed by an actual person I get it approved saying the grounds for rejection were incorrectly applied. Come on Google, up your game !

To be honest, the automated review is a disaster - I reviewed a bunch of places - on Google’s prompting!!, only to have them rejected. Why bother???
