My review and photos does not appear and is even partially hidden

I am G Suite account and have joined the Local Guides program since 2015 and have now reached level 10. My review was supposed to be 816, but it only shows 750, previously it was 755 then reduced to 751 until now only 750 is displayed. My account is verified, correct, and has not committed any violations.

Even more strangely, I created a place on Google Maps and I was the only one who gave a review and photos of that place, but after someone else did a review and sent photos, reviews and My photos are completely hidden. This is strange, what actually happened?

I also regularly fill out investigation forms, but the longer I fill in, the less my contributions are displayed.

Hi @FachryMyID

I tried to spot what could be causing your problems.

Your contributions are generally very good.

I saw a few issues with you sharing videos with recognizable faces.

And you are adding so many photos with many reviews that you bump against the limit of 50 pics per place. This should give rise to some thoughts about how helpful each and every photo are. Just showing two chairs or a sign, or a ceiling is not really helpful in my private opinion.

On the more serious side, your eagerness to add photos makes it difficult to avoid adding duplicates.

This is an offence that could explain some of the moderation you face.

Another thing could be that some of your reviews could show as removed because the places are no longer on Google Maps.

Finally, I would suggest you delete images that are attached to no pin (unknown place).

Sorry that I could not help you with more precision.

Cheers

Hi @MortenCopenhagen

Thanks for your reply.

For the video I basically just make it spin, and if any faces show it’s a consequence.

For duplicate photos, I’ve complained about the way Google Maps sorts photos to be uploaded from device and Google Photos irregularly, resulting in duplicate photos. This is not just my fault, many have experienced something similar. However, I can fix and admit this duplicate photo problem.

The real serious problem is why my review after appearing a few days later was hidden? For example, this place and this place.

In both places I made a point at the same time of day. The place was approved and my review and photos appeared, but when someone else reviewed there my review and photos are hidden. It’s strange, my reviews, photos and videos also do not violate the terms and conditions and there are not too many of them.

It wasn’t the only two cases that my review was hidden after a few days of appearing.

I hope Google explains why reviews are hidden in the first place and hidden after a few days of being live.

@FachryMyID

Hoping that Google will explain is wishful and unrealistic. Unfortunately.

If you added the first place, please explain why the name of a bank is included in the name of a Mosque. Such actions can easily get you suspected of being a spammer. Also one of the photos shows that the Bank is not part of the normally used name.

Also, the second place is named suspiciously: Perpustakaan Bank Indonesia Jawa Barat. You chose the category Public library. And then the name of a bank is included, and “Jawa Barat” is a reference to the location (as far as I can see). Adding location keywords in the title of a place is also out of order.

May I suggest that you check the business naming rules found here? They apply to all places not only businesses.

Finally, I would like to mention that the moderation looks a much more than the individual reviews and photos. Your contribution history is also taken into account. This might explain why there is no obvious violations to be found in the individual contributions.

All the best

Morten

Hi @MortenCopenhagen

I added the name of the bank behind the library and mosque because these two places are in the same building as the bank, and that is their original name. So I don’t think there is a problem with naming the place. And the library does accept public visits. Meanwhile, I think the mosque is semi-public, because only employees and library visitors have access there.

But I thanks for your quite enlightening and clear response.

Hope everything is fine in the future.
