Hello @Stanucious

Thanks for bringing this in notice.

Your point can be deducted due to various reasons, check them as under:

  • Posting Pictures clicked by someone, after getting reviewed your content Google deserves the right to remove something inappropriate. This often leads to reduction of points.
  • Posting Wrong or inappropriate review of the place.
  • Spam or Hate speech

Make sure that you are not practising any of the above mentioned above.

Be Original and post your own content,

You can use Local Guide Community copyright free photos if you don’t have your own picture.

Always Try to post accurate and proper information of the place, Do not make unusual wrong changes on the maps.

Do follow Google Maps and LG community guidelines to avoid such problems in future.

Edit:

Sorry @ErmesT , i won’t will do this again, i wasn’t aware of the fact that which portion is getting point reduction. May be because it wasn’t mentioned and pictures were not clear enough. I apologise for providing wrong information with the promise that i won’t will do this again in future.

@Stanucious , can you please tell us where you are experiencing your loss of points? Being more specific can better help us to respond.

The two most common reason for missing points are related to

  • The settings of My Activity. Please read this post for more information. How do I delete my answers to questions on Google Maps?
  • The removal of inappropriate, or near duplicate Photos. This is unfortunately something that many Local Guides do not understand, so they submit a series of photos about the place. This kind of contributions do not give any benefit to the information on Google Maps. It is just an inappropriate practice to get more points. Please read: What photos should I share on Google Maps?

Please let us know where you are experiencing your issue, this will help to give you a more detailed answers.

@VinayKrishna , please do not give wrong information about adding photos. What you wrote is related to contributing with photo in Connect, and it is not related to the subject of this post. Thank you.

Please be aware that in Google Maps you can only add Your Own Photos

Hi @ErmesT

Its precisely on the points for maps editing. You can see it in the pictures below. I think it’s an error from Google Maps.

Ok @Stanucious , thanks.

So, are you experiencing a real deduction of points, or just a different number of edit shown on your badge?

Other people reported this visualization issue, and I have this difference on my profile too, but I am not missing any point.

It is very important to be clear on this, because it can address the investigation on the wrong way.

A feedback will be welcome.

In any case I am tagging @AlexaAC on your post for a check

Hi @Stanucious ,

Thanks for reaching out!

Could you confirm whether you are experiencing a deduction in points, or only a different amount in edits shown on your badge?

I’ve moved this to the How-tos section, as this will be helpful to fellow Local Guides searching for similar queries.

Hello, @Stanucious

I find the problem reported by you is similar to the one announced by some users in the last week.

It appears that certain types of edits, though qualify for the points, are not considered to be eligible for the fact-finder badge. Tagging photos of food dishes seems to be one of them.

Hi @AlexaAC @ErmesT

Before the amount of edits were showing correctly but recently both changes, showing two different amounts. So based on that, i assumed some points are deducted but i am not sure

Hi @Stanucious

You can see that now, on mobile only, also the dish names and the suggested dish names (for photos not added by you) are shown on your edit list.

This can indeed make a difference in the count. Btw, this should not reduce the number of edits on your badge.

As @C_T mentioned on another post, there is an indication about edits made private, but if I remember correctly (I can’t check now) the conversation in there still open.

For this reason, to know if the points have been reduced can be important to identify the issue, as requested also by @AlexaAC

Hi @Muhammad_Usman

That is absolutely incorrect, check my profile again. There is no duplicate pictures. Maybe they look almost alike but not duplicate. But anyway that is not the question

For duplicate I don’t mean you upload 1 picture 2 time I mean to say you upload a lot of pictures which looks alike and you already confirmed me. And I have uploaded many examples pictures from your profile and said may be it is the reason for deduction of point and what are you saying among the difference between edits it is known issue with every one don’t worry about it every one facing same issue Look at my Profile

Hi @Muhammad_Usman , @Stanucious ,

Thank you for making sure to check thoroughly on the matter! : ]

I just wanted to share, that for the moment any further checking are to be as @ErmesT and @AlexaAC provided directions to be headed to.
